I’ve always loved recruitment. In fact, I can still remember my first ever placement – for an Assistant Brand Manager at Pizza Hut - and the name of the HR client. A move into executive search saw me spend a number of years supporting the appointments of senior leaders into consumer product and retail businesses and I was lucky enough to work on some fantastic roles with brilliant candidates - many of whom I remain in touch with today. A meeting with the Group CEO of Selfridges turned into a one month project which then turned into a 9 year stint with the world’s greatest department store group. I set up an internal search function – the first for the group – designed to serve the needs of 4 international department stores and a growing Group leadership team, before moving into Selfridges & Co to run its sizeable in house recruitment and employer brand team. The next chapter of my career took me to what at the time was the world’s 4th largest beauty group, Natura &Co, where I headed Group Talent Acquisition and Management for Aesop, Avon, The Body Shop and Natura. This was a fantastic experience in a truly global business. Most recently I’ve been the Group HR Director at the Bamford Collection – an extraordinary group of brands powered by a team of 950 hugely passionate people with a clear sustainability mission. I’ve long held an appetite to return to recruitment but knew that when I did, I wanted to do things differently and to work with a brilliant and inspiring partner. Meeting Jo at Daylesford and seeing her energy, creativity and tenacity gave me the courage to recruit her into the world of recruitment.

I’ve always loved my job. And I've been lucky enough to work in some of the most exciting brands out there. I started my career on the Unilever grad scheme (it was a real pinch myself moment when I got the job) before being seduced by the start up vibes and astroturf carpet over at innocent drinks – to this day the job I’ve loved the most (and I’ve loved most of my jobs) and which showed me how salient a strong culture is to business success. I spent some time at Danone UK before moving over to the wine trade where I spent a happy decade working at Nyetimber (luxury English sparkling wine), Naked Wines (on-line subscription wine club) and Majestic Wine (the UK’s largest wine retailer) in a range of commercial sales and growth marketing roles, before moving back to broader luxury retail in Customer Director roles for Planet Organic and the Bamford Collection – which is where I met Sarah. Working with Sarah to build my team (and helping to form the broader team) at Daylesford was a lightbulb moment for me. Recruiting brilliant talent and watching the impact they can have on a business is so very rewarding. And seeing Sarah’s intelligent, personal and caring approach to recruitment was a huge contrast to many of the agencies I’d worked with before. It didn’t take much for her to persuade me we’d make a great team and could really make a difference to the hiring effectiveness of other great businesses. I just hope I prove to be Sarah’s best hire…
